Ammonium polyphosphate APP

Ammonium polyphosphate APP

CAS No.: 68333-79-9

CAS No.: 68333-79-9

Properties:

Ammonium polyphosphate, also known as polyphosphoric ammonium or condensed ammonium polyphosphate (abbreviated as APP), is a high-quality, efficient, non-toxic, odorless, non-corrosive gas-producing, low hygroscopicity, high thermal stability, excellent performance non-halogen flame retardant. It is an essential fire-retardant additive for various intumescent fireproof coatings and flame-retardant products. Our factory adopts advanced international multi-layer microencapsulation technology, with high phosphorus content, high nitrogen content, good thermal stability, low water solubility, nearly neutral, and high flame retardant efficiency. The product is a white powdered solid, non-hygroscopic, non-flammable, crystalline type II, with high molecular weight (n>1000) and high stability, so it can also be used as the main active ingredient for intumescent flame-retardant thermoplastics. Our product has been surface-treated, with stronger moisture resistance, alkaline pH, and lower water solubility (less than 0.1g/100cm3 water at 25°C).

Its flame retardant principle:

APP under high temperature conditions is heated and dehydrated to generate polyphosphoric acid or metaphosphoric acid, which can act as a strong dehydrating agent to undergo dehydration with the char-forming substances in the flame retardant system to form a carbon layer. Through the action of non-flammable gases produced by the gas source, an intumescent carbon layer is formed to isolate air and block the fire source, achieving flame retardancy.

Features:

1. High degree of polymerization, high phosphorus and nitrogen content, good flame retardant effect.

2. High degree of polymerization, low water solubility, low hygroscopicity.

3. pH value close to neutral, good thermal stability, good compatibility.

4. Increases powder flowability.

5. Improves intumescence during combustion.

Applications:

1. Used for formulating various high-efficiency intumescent fireproof coatings, can be used for fire protection of high-rise buildings, ships, trains, and cables;

2. Used for flame retardant treatment of wood, plywood, fiberboard, paper, and fibers;

3. Used as the main flame retardant additive for intumescent flame retardants (IFR) in plastics, resins, and rubber;
