It appears as a white fine powder and features economical use, highly efficient flame retardancy, excellent electrical and mechanical properties, no discoloration, low smoke, and low corrosivity. Its flame retardant mechanism is as follows: upon heating, MCA sublimes and absorbs heat to lower the material surface temperature, while simultaneously catalyzing polymer dehydration and carbonization to form a dense intumescent carbon layer that isolates oxygen and heat, and releasing non-combustible gases such as nitrogen to dilute the concentration of combustible substances, achieving dual flame retardancy in both the condensed phase and the gas phase.<\/p>\n<p>The most core and mature application field of MCA is the flame retardant modification of unfilled nylon 6 and nylon 66. Adding an appropriate amount of MCA enables the material to easily meet the UL94 V-0 (1.6mm) flame retardant standard. MCA exhibits good compatibility with the nylon matrix, imparting excellent flame retardancy to the material while maximally preserving its electrical and mechanical properties, and is not prone to mold sticking, foaming, or exudation. In glass fiber reinforced nylon systems, MCA can likewise achieve gas-phase flame barrier through its own endothermic decomposition and the generation of non-combustible gases.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond nylon, the application landscape of MCA has expanded to multiple fields. In rubber, MCA can be compounded with synergists such as aluminum hypophosphite for halogen-free flame retardant modification of EPDM rubber. In fire retardant coatings, MCA can be added as a flame retardant and matting auxiliary, significantly reducing the smoke density of coatings during combustion. In thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), MCA is increasingly widely used due to its environmental friendliness and substrate compatibility advantages.
