To select a suitable flame retardant, multiple requirements such as flame retardant efficiency, system compatibility, coating film transparency and environmental compliance must be considered.<\/p>\n<p>The flame retardants commonly used in water-based acrylic coatings are mainly divided into several categories. Halogen-free<a href=\"https:\/\/dghtj.com\/en\/\">flame retardant<\/a>is currently the mainstream choice, achieving efficient flame retardancy through intumescent charring and releasing inert gases, and complying with environmental regulations such as RoHS and REACH. Research on new P\/N\/B synergistic flame retardants also shows that when added at 15%, the limiting oxygen index (LOI) of the coating can reach 28.7%. Inorganic flame retardants (such as aluminum hydroxide and modified aluminum hydroxide) are environmentally friendly and low cost, but usually require high addition levels to achieve UL94 V-0 rating, which may affect the flexibility of the coating film. The combination of aluminum hypophosphite and zinc borate is also widely used in water-based acrylic systems, and the addition level needs to be determined based on the flame retardant rating and coating thickness.<\/p>\n<p>Dongguan Hongtaiji Flame Retardant Materials Co., Ltd. has been deeply engaged in the research and development of environmentally friendly flame retardants for more than 20 years, and has developed ultra-fine particle size, high-efficiency and environmentally friendly flame retardant products for water-based and solvent-based systems. It has excellent dispersion and high flame retardant efficiency in acrylic fire-resistant coatings and coating layers. For water-based acrylic adhesive systems, Hongtaiji's DNP-4, after special surface modification, can be stably dispersed in water-based systems, with a recommended addition amount of 10-35%, achieving self-extinguishing upon removal from fire. All products comply with EU RoHS directive and REACH regulation standards.<\/p>\n<p>When selecting flame retardants for water-based acrylic coatings, it is recommended to give priority to halogen-free environmentally friendly products. For water-based systems, special attention should be paid to the compatibility of the flame retardant with water and its dispersion stability.
