However, natural rubber has a limiting oxygen index (LOI) of only about 18%, making it highly flammable. With increasingly stringent environmental regulations, halogen-free and red phosphorus-free has become an important development direction for flame-retardant modification of rubber. Dongguan Hongtaiji Flame Retardant Materials Co., Ltd. has been deeply engaged in the research and development of environmentally friendly flame retardants for more than 20 years and has launched a series of halogen-free and red phosphorus-free flame retardant solutions for different rubber substrates.<\/p>\n<p>Specialized solution for ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) rubber<\/p>\n<p>EPDM has excellent thermal stability and is widely used in seals, wires and cables, and other fields. Hongtaiji's specially developed rubber flame retardant FR-515A is a halogen-free, environmentally friendly phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardant, appearing as a light purple (or black) fine powder. This product is specifically designed for producing flame-retardant black EPDM rubber products. After uniform mixing, the flame-retardant rubber compound can achieve UL94 1.0mm V-0 flame retardant rating. Phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardants combine high efficiency and environmental friendliness, and have become the mainstream trend in rubber flame retardancy.<\/p>\n<p>Phosphorus-nitrogen and inorganic compound solutions for general-purpose rubber<\/p>\n<p>For natural rubber (NR) and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), Hongtaiji recommends the use of intumescent flame retardants (IFR). Adding 50 parts can make NR achieve UL94 V-0 rating, with LOI increased to 27%. Melamine cyanurate (MCA), as a nitrogen-based halogen-free flame retardant, is widely used in thermoplastic and thermosetting resins, rubber and other products. Hongtaiji's nano-scale MCA can have a particle size as fine as 0.5\u03bcm-0.7\u03bcm, allowing more uniform dispersion in the rubber matrix and significantly improving flame retardant efficiency. Melamine pyrophosphate (MPP) is also suitable for flame-retardant modification of rubber.
