Because it is non-toxic and harmless, and produces no secondary pollution during combustion, it is known as a green and environmentally friendly flame retardant. Its flame-retardant mechanism is based on: when heated to 210-220\u00b0C, it decomposes and releases crystalline water of 34.6% mass fraction, absorbing a large amount of heat and lowering the material surface temperature; at the same time, it generates an alumina protective layer that isolates oxygen and heat transfer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dghtj.com\/en\/products\/%e6%b0%a2%e6%b0%a7%e5%8c%96%e9%93%9d%e9%98%bb%e7%87%83%e5%89%82\/\">Aluminum Hydroxide<\/a>Suitable for flame-retardant modification of rubber, plastics, wires and cables, coatings, epoxy resins, and unsaturated polyesters. Ultrafine aluminum hydroxide not only increases the limiting oxygen index of materials, but also improves the surface smoothness and mechanical properties of products, enhancing resistance to tracking and arc resistance. However, as a filler-type flame retardant, aluminum hydroxide usually requires a high loading (80-250 phr) to achieve the desired flame-retardant effect, and the processing temperature should not exceed 180\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p>To address the issue of high loading affecting mechanical properties, Hongtaiji recommends combining aluminum hydroxide with phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardants (such as MCA, MPP).
